COVERAGE

What Your Muir Warranty Covers

The Muir warranty covers failure caused by defects in materials and workmanship that affect the performance of your equipment. If a covered part is found to be faulty, Muir supplies a replacement part — and the balance of the original cover period carries across to that replacement when it is fitted by Muir.

Materials & workmanship

Defects that affect how your windlass, capstan or winch performs, for the full cover period.

Replacement parts

Muir supplies replacement parts for any component assessed as faulty under cover.

Original purchaser

Cover applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable — it ends if the equipment changes hands.

COVERAGE BY COMPONENT

How Long Your Cover Lasts

Warranty Registration

Warranty Claim

STEP ONE

Register Your Warranty

Registering takes about two minutes and gives Muir the model, serial number and commissioning date for your unit. That record means any future claim can be verified immediately, and it lets our team match the correct gypsy, seals and genuine spare parts to your exact build if you ever need them.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Submit a Warranty Claim

If your equipment has failed inside the cover period, complete the claim form below. Give us as much detail as you can — the more complete the claim, the faster we can assess it and get parts moving.

What You Need Before You Lodge a Claim

Model name and serial number — stamped on the unit’s housing

Proof of purchase and the commissioning or installation date

Vessel details — name, length, and where the equipment is fitted

A clear description of the fault and when it appears

Photos or video of the fault and the installation

Not sure it's covered?

Plenty of faults come down to installation, chain fit or power supply rather than the unit itself. The Anchoring Guide covers chain and gypsy matching, and product support has manuals and wiring diagrams for every current model. If you’d rather talk it through, contact the Muir team — Mon–Fri, 9:00AM–5:00PM AEST.

Outside Tasmania?

COMMON QUESTIONS

Warranty Questions

Six questions, matched exactly by the FAQPage schema on this page.

Cover periods vary by component — from 1 to 5 years depending on the part. Deck mechanical components and Inox Pro SS316 gearboxes carry the longest cover at 5 years. See the full cover periods table above for every component.

Registering isn’t a condition of cover, but it records your model, serial number and commissioning date with the factory. That means a claim can be verified straight away instead of waiting on paperwork, and it helps our team match the right parts to your build later on.

The serial number is stamped on the housing of the unit. On vertical windlasses it’s on the deck-side casting; on horizontal units and drum winches it’s on the gearbox body. If you can’t locate it, send us a photo of the unit and we’ll identify it.

No. The Cover applies to the original purchaser only. If the equipment or the vessel is sold or otherwise transferred, cover ends at that point.

Yes. Claims are handled through Muir’s authorised dealers and service agents worldwide. Have your model, serial number and proof of purchase ready — the dealer coordinates with Kingston where parts or approval are needed.

Under cover, Muir supplies replacement parts for components assessed as faulty. Installation and commissioning are not included in the scope of supply unless specifically agreed, so fitting is arranged with your dealer or installer.
